Reunion (再会 Saikai) is the seventeenth episode of the Mushoku Tensei anime series originally broadcasted on November 7, 2021.

Synopsis

Although he is reunited with his father, Paul, Rudeus is heartbroken because Zenith, Lilia, Aisha, and Sylphy went missing in the transference incident, and because of the conflict with Paul. Paul, on the other hand, is admonished by Geese and realizes his own mistakes, such as the words he said to Rudeus, and tries to meet his son again to talk. Rudeus summons up his courage and confronts Paul. ......

Differences with the light novel:

• All the Chapter 2: Paul's Story was left implicit in the opening sequence, some scenes cut are:
  • A short scene where Paul remembers his time in the Dojo of Lilia's father.
  • His time in Milis and how Paul asked for help to the Family of Zenith and his approach to rescue the persons.
  • How with the time he start to found information of dead people that he know (one of them, Sylphie father).
  • A short scene where Norn says the he meets a bald guy (Ruijerd) before Paul fight Rudeus.
• A short scene that explain how Rudeus miss the information of the letter in Zant port
• The reason why Vierra use that outfit was cut.
• The conversation between Paul and Rudeus after the reconciliation was longer, some information cut was:
  • Rudeus ask how was Sylphie, and discovering that she can use Chantless healing magic
  • Paul asking how was his relation with Eris.
  • Rudeus confirming that Paul dont have affair with his subordinates.
  • Rudeus thinking a way to transport Ruijerd to the Central continent
• In the Light Novel the second reunion in Millishion is only Rudeus, Eris and Ruijerd, in the anime also have Paul.
  • In the light novel, they decide to stay a week in Millishion, meanwhile in the anime decides to departure in the next day.
  • Ruijerd show how he obtained a recommendation letter with a old acquaintance to travel.
• All the Chapter 6: One Week in Millishion was cut except the departure of Rudeus with Paul. some scenes cut are:
  • Rudeus visiting the HQ of the Fittoa Search and Rescue Squad and meeting Norn again.
  • Rudeus searching information in the adventurer guild and completing a quest.
  • Rudeus and Eris having a dinner with Paul and Norn.

• Arc System work is credited in the ending for a brief game play of Guilty Gear XX featuring Dizzy fighting the character Ky Kiske.
